The Sacrament from the Devil's Brother
The Mormons will argue that both Jesus and Lucifer were brothers and creations of God. They continue this idea by claiming we are all creations of God therefore we are all brothers. There are many problems with this considering the bible tells us that Jesus was the Word (God) that became flesh in the form of Jesus (John 1:1-14). Apostle Paul made it quite clear that Jesus is not our brother in his letter to the Colossains, "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Col 1:15-17)
What is wrong with this picture?
This is a Mormon sacrament of water and leavened bread. Jewish tradition based on the bible would be wine and unleavened (matza) bread. Christians have followed the biblical standard of wine or fruit of the vine (grape juice) and unleavened bread which represents the shed blood and body of Christ. Symbols having meaning, both from a historical perspective and a spiritual one. The bible teaches that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but the power of God for us who are being saved. Mormons want little to do with the cross and they have even changed the sacrament to down play the blood atonement. Leaven in the bible is a symbol of corruption because yeast, like sin, spreads to the whole lump or body of believers.
